Intercultural Poetry Evening

19:00 h
21 Mar

On the occasion of the International Day of Poetry celebrated all over the world on March 21st we would like to cordially invite you to the Intercultural Poetry Evening at the Jewish Community Centre in Krakow.

Poetry allows us to see that despite language and cultural barriers we as people share the same emotions: love, suffering, joy, or loneliness. During the Intercultural Poetry Evening we would like to tap into diverse literary traditions of different countries and look for a common denominator in the linguistic and cultural diversity that Krakow residents present today.
We invite you to listen to poems in Polish, English, Arabic, Hebrew, Yiddish, Spanish, Italian, Hindi and other languages. Poets and fans of poetry from around the globe who currently reside in Krakow will present their favourite compositions. Our special guest is Khoulud Charaf, a Syrian poet, a recipient of the prestigious Ibn Battuta award, who lives and works in Krakow as part of the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN).
During the event, the poems will be read in the original (Polish and English translations will be available). Non-Polish speakers are welcome. Together, we will discover the power of the word in different languages and open ourselves to different cultures, languages and literary traditions.

This event is organized in cooperation with Rethinking Refugees, Islamista blog -, blog -
Free admission. In Polish and English
