Israeli election night at JCC Krakow

On April 9th, 2019 Israelis will vote for their representatives to the 21st Knesset.
Elections in Israel, are a highly contentious period as each party jockeys for favour amongst the population, drawing on feelings of populism nationalism and even creating scandal. We will speak about the Israeli electoral law, the candidates which will most likely be elected, the election forecasts based on polls and possible coalitions. We would like to invite you to join us for an Israeli election night.

Participants:

Dr. Ewa Węgrzyn: assistant professor of the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The founder of the Theodore Herzl and Ozjasz Thon Department of Study on Contemporary Israel and Polish-Israeli Relations. In her research she mainly focuses on the history of contemporary Israel, Polish-Israeli relations, as well as the history of Jews in post-war Poland. Currently she is a stipendist at the Hebrew University and she will be a live correspondent of the election day contacting us from Jerusalem.

Dr. Artur Skorek: assistant professor at the Institute of Middle and Far East Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. His research focuses on contemporary Israel. He received his PhD in the field of Political Studies, he is a graduate from International Relations and Religious Studies of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. 
Co-founder of the Department of Israel and the Levant of the Jagiellonian University. His research interests focus on the Israeli political system, state-religion relations in Israel and international relations in the Middle East.

Jakub Katulski: politologist and culture expert, his expert field are topics related to Israel. He is the founder and editor of the www.stosunkowobliskiwschod.pl blog, his articles were published in “Puls Azji”, “Przegląd Polityczny”, and the “Przegląd” weekly magazine.
