The book describes the wave of immigration of Jews from Poland to Israel in the second half of 1950's. The author explains the reasons the Jewish community of almost 50 thousand people left Poland, describes their journey and the process of adapting to a new homeland - Israel. The work is based on documents found in Polish and Israeli archives as well as over 100 interviews conducted in Israel with the participants of this aliyah.

Ewa Węgrzyn - Profesor at the Institute for Jewish Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. A graduate of Jewish Studies at the Faculty of History of the Jagiellonian University, where she also defended her PhD thesis in 2012, which was centrered mainly on Hebrew documents from Israeli archives. She is a fellow of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Hebrew University in Jerusalem) and the Institute for the History of Polish Jewry and Israel-Poland Relations (University in Tel-Aviv). In her work she focuses on the history of contemporary Israel, the Polish-Israeli relations as well as the Jewish community in Poland post-1945.

The book "Wyjeżdżamy! Wyjeżdżamy?! Alija gomułkowska 1956-1959" was published in May 2016 by the Austeria Publishing Press in Krakow.
