On that night, the King's sleep was disturbed, and he ordered that the book of the records were read before him. (Esther 6:1)


"On that night, the King's sleep was disturbed” (6: 1). [...] Rava said: It is a real [lack of] sleep of King Ahasuerus. He was concerned about the thought: Why did Esther invite Haman? Perhaps they conferred to kill [me]? Then he thought: Perhaps this is a man who has done something good for me, and I can not rewarded him? And this is because [my] people avoid me, and no one informed me [about the conspiracy of Esther and Haman]? Babylonian Talmud, Megillah 15b
