Thanksgiving Scroll from Qumran (1QHodajota). Critical editing of the text (with translation and commentary) - meeting with Dr. Przemysław Dec

18:00 h
10 May

The amazing discovery of the Qumran scrolls that date back to early Christianity has stirred a lot of emotions. This makes the work of dr. Przemysław Dec all the more important. Not only has he translated the collection of scrolls but he has also taken it upon himself to supply his translation with critical commentary and attempted a historical reconstruction of the text. Thus, a reader gets (both in Polish and in Hebrew, the language of the original) an insight into the sensibilities, the way of thinking, and spiritual life of those who lived in the first century.

Dr. Przemysław Dec is a graduate of the Adam Mickiewicz University (Faculty of Theology) and of the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow. Since 2004, he has been working at the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Jagiellonian University, where he teaches biblical and modern Hebrew. He also specializes in ancient Jewish literature.
