"REFUGE: Stories of the Self-help Home" is a warm and moving documentary that gives a voice to the last generation of Holocaust Survivors. The film weaves together historical narrative, archival footage, and deeply personal testimonies to trace the lives of six Survivors, and explores how a small group of them came together to care for their own.

“REFUGE” illuminates the lost world of the Central European Jewry, and for the first time ever combines their war experiences in a single narrative. The six elderly Survivors and refugees who are the subjects of the film have witnessed the Kristallnacht, found refuge in England through the Kindertransport, escaped to the United States and Shanghai, hidden in French estates and castles, and survived concentration camps, including Theresienstadt and Auschwitz.

In English, with Polish subtitles. Free admission.
