“NANA” retraces the survival story of my grandmother, a prisoner at Auschwitz, and illustrates how her lifelong fight against intolerance continues in the 21st century against the backdrop of current events. Maryla Michalowski-Dyamant, born in Poland, survived the Bedzin ghetto, Ravensbrück, Malchow, and Auschwitz-Birkenau, where she was forced to work as an interpreter for Dr. Mengele.

After the war, she dedicated her life to sharing the story of her survival with younger generations, so that it would never be forgotten or repeated.”

This film has already been screened all over the world, most notably in Brussels, on the occasion of the International Holocaust Memorial Day at an event organized by the European Commission and the European Jewish Congress. Following the screening at the JCC, we will talk about the future of Holocaust education with Frans Timmermans, First Vice President of the European Commission, a renowned historian and author Simon Schama, and Serena Dykman.

The film will be followed by a Q&A with Alice Michalowski, the producer of NANA.
